Introduction to Sociology

This course examines how groups, institutions, and wider social forces shape everyday life, and how people shape society in return. Students learn to apply sociological theories, concepts, and perspectives to familiar experiences, connect individual choices to broader social patterns, and communicate sociological ideas to a public audience.
Social Research Methods

This course introduces students to the craft of social research. They learn how to ask meaningful questions and design studies that can answer them. Over the semester, students develop a complete research proposal while learning to review the literature, measure social concepts, select samples, and create effective tools for collecting data.
